MLK Day of Service
On Sunday, January 19th, in collaboration with Winchester Public Schools, the Network will host a Day of Service, supported by Winchester High School students from Connect and Commit and other committed students. Between 10 am – 2 pm, the community is invited to Winchester High School to participate in a drive to support under-resourced local families through donations to the Woburn Council of Social Concern; engage young activists committed to social, political, and environmental justice; and attend service learning break-out sessions on composting, Amnesty International, LGBTQIA+ issues, vegetarian/vegan cooking, and more.Â
Opening remarks will be presented by Dean Solomon, Executive Director of the Woburn Council of Social Concern, Network for Social Justice Executive Director Liora Norwich, Superintendent of Winchester Public Schools Judith Evans, climate activists, and student performers. Activities will be suitable for all ages and breakfast will be included. Come join us for this inaugural community-wide Day of Service, and help us to carry on Dr. King’s legacy!
