Voters of Winchester
This past Wednesday, September 20, the League of Women Voters of Winchester honored Wei Han as its recipient of the 2023 Civic Leadership Award. The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to civic life at the local or state level. You can read about Wei’s life and civic engagement here.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on Wei’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of all residents of Winchester. Since joining NFSJ in 2017, Wei has played a huge role in shaping our work, including serving two terms as Board President. As a member of the Immigrant Justice Committee (IJC), Wei was instrumental in passing a warrant in Town Meeting for non-citizen legal residents to locally vote and hold office, organizing an End Asian Hate vigil in 2021, and providing ongoing support for inclusive initiatives for newcomers in town including International Connections events and AAPI heritage celebrations.
While it would be impossible to quantify Wei’s impact on our work, in honoring him at Wedneday evening’s ceremony, NFSJ’s Executive Director had these words to say: “Wei always shows up willing to help, happy to listen, excited to learn, and ready to engage.”
Thank you Wei, for all you do to make Winchester a more inclusive and welcoming place, everyday.
